Support for Personal Trainers |

Rightway Training - Corporate Wellness courses for personal trainers SkillsActive recently approved the first ever course for personal trainers in corporate wellness with 16 REPs CPD points. Written and delivered by Rob Woollen, who heads corporate wellness consultancy Rightway Complete Wellness Solutions, the course explains how to assess, design and apply wellness interventions, along with proven techniques to market your offering. A graduate of Northern Fitness, Rob was one of the first civilian instructors in the UK to gain REPs level 4 status and has written articles on corporate wellness for magazines such, as Occupational Health and HR Zone. Rob said, “Many instructors are only too aware that there is money to be made in servicing the business community, but find it hard to break into the market. Not only will this course share some of our most effective marketing techniques, it also provides personal trainers with credibility when approaching the business world in that they have received endorsed training in the specific challenges of the corporate market.” Although corporate wellness schemes have been around for many years in the US, they have become more and more popular in the UK in recent years. Rightway’s clients include government departments, universities and national design companies. www.fitforwork.co.uk |

A student who undertook her training with us recently wrote saying: Hi, I am a past student of Modern Pilates from 2002. I am now living in Australia. I want to thank you for giving me the best training out there. What I have learned from the course has been second to none. There is nothing here in Australia that even comes close to the content of the UK course. Thank you, if you ever want to bring the course to Australia let me know! Keep up the excellent standard...Wendy |

European Health & Fitness Association |

CYQ qualifications approved The European Health and Fitness Association (EHFA) has now recognised the alignment of UK qualifications against the EHFA standards for Fitness Instructor, Group Fitness Instructor, Aqua Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer, which are themselves aligned to the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). The development comes after the signing of a memorandum of understanding between EHFA and SkillsActive, the Sector Skills Council for Active Leisure. This means that the following CYQ qualifications will now benefit from EHFA approval. Certificates for these qualifications will (with immediate effect) carry the EHFA logo: Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing Gym (aligns to EQF Level 3 Fitness Instructor) Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing ETM (aligns to EQF Level 3 Group Fitness Instructor) Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing Water Based Exercise (aligns to EQF Level 3 Aqua Fitness Instructor) Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training (aligns to EQF Level 4 Personal Trainer) As recognition of EHFA grows around Europe and the brand becomes established, EHFA approval will become increasingly desirable for instructors wishing to work internationally. Learners who have achieved these qualifications are also eligible for membership of EREPs , the Europe-wide exercise register. |

Good News for Ipod Lovers! |
|
|
Copying music onto another format (eg. an Ipod) requires an additional licence. The copying of music for an individual’s own use is presently ‘overlooked’ by the licensing authorities. They will not overlook this action, however, when the music reproduced is intended for use in public, for example by DJs and in fitness classes. The Mechanical Copyright Protection Society Ltd. (MCPS) are the licence providers in this instance. At present the smallest licence which can be obtained is around £250 and allows up to 5,000 tracks to be copied onto another format. An instructor holding an MCPS licence to copy music would still require a PPL licence to play the music in classes. In addition, all venues in which the instructor teaches must hold a PRS licence. Applications can be made online or by post.
