Mission StatementTo provide the highest quality and recognised fitness education, through training and support, to enthusiastic and dedicated individuals.
Director of Training Christine North-Minchella started her career as a course tutor for YMCA Fitness Industry Training and latterly ran the Yorkshire Area Centre, which was a Centre of Excellence. In 1999 her desire to diversify and offer other high quality training opportunities in the North of England led her to set up Northern Fitness & Education (NFE). Her role as Studio Manager in one of the North of England’s first private health clubs, The Manor in Leeds, led her to believe that the standard of teaching could be vastly improved upon and that there was an obvious need for high quality training. Quality & RecognitionSince that time Northern Fitness has grown and we continue to work closely with both Central YMCA Qualifications and the Register of Exercise Professionals to raise and maintain the standards of teaching in health and fitness in the UK. Our training is recognised by employers throughout the UK and we are acknowledged as one of the leading training providers in the North of England. Our aim at Northern Fitness is to provide you with an enjoyable and worthwhile educational experience with highly qualified tutors who can guide and support you before, during and after your training. All our tutors and assessors work in education as well as training clients in gyms or their homes. They bring you their knowledge and experience along with updated research to teach you in a unique 'hands on' way. We also provide you with comprehensive learning resources that give you the best opportunity to be successful. Our training courses are recognised and endorsed by the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) and Central YMCA Qualifications and students who undertake our training programmes are guaranteed entry onto the REPs Register of Qualified Teachers. As we are an NVQ approved centre, students can then move on to gain a National Vocational Qualification in the workplace. AwardsOur outstanding record of success is evidenced by the fact that our Director of Training, Christine North-Minchella, has been recognised as a leading innovator in the Industry. In 2002 she received the Lesley Mowbray Award from YMCA Fitness Industry Training and in 2005 was awarded The Exceptional Achievement Award for Contribution to the Development of the Health & Fitness Industry – awarded by Skills Active and REPs.
